Stevan R. Baxter

Professional
Stevan is an associate attorney at Olsen Skoubye & Nielson. His practice centers on commercial litigation and real estate/land use law. Stevan represents contractors and suppliers in legal disputes arising from both residential and high-end commercial construction projects, mechanic’s liens, and collections. He frequently advises and represents brokers in the transportation/distribution industries in matters related to non-compete agreements, shipper/broker contracts, cargo claims and employment law issues. Stevan also represents and advises individuals and property owners in real property and probate disputes. He represents many property owners with real property issues before the Utah Property Rights Ombudsman, planning and zoning commissions, boards of adjustment, city councils and district courts throughout the State of Utah. Prior to joining Olsen Skoubye & Nielson, Stevan was a judicial extern to the Hon. Ronald Nehring of the Utah Supreme Court and clerked at the Utah Attorney General’s office and at the law firm of Bostwick & Price P.C. in Salt Lake City.

Education
Stevan attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University on academic and leadership scholarships and graduated from Ricks College with an A.A. degree in Chinese and from Brigham Young University with a B.A. degree in Asian Studies. He attended the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah from 2005 to 2008 and was admitted to the Utah Bar in 2008. During law school, Stevan was a note-and-comment editor for the Journal of Land, Resources and Environmental Law and a T.A. for Legal Writing.

Admissions & Associations
Stevan is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Utah and the United States District Court for Utah. He is currently a member of the Construction Law and Litigation Sections of the Utah State Bar. Stevan is also a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association and the Transportation Intermediaries Association.

Personal
Stevan was raised in Ashton, Idaho. He and his wife have two children. They enjoy sports and the outdoors, especially Utah’s canyons along the Wasatch Front.
